One meeting with George Abraham and his deeply committed team and you realise that you need to change your mindset about the visually impaired. You are compelled to realise that it is wrong to simply see them as objects of pity and charity. With their project EYEWAY they seek to show that with proper guidance a visually impaired person can become not only independent and self-reliant but as productive a member of society as any other. Under the dynamic and imaginative leadership of George this NGO brings to its work a wealth of useful information and a great sense of commitment transforming lives.

I am Rutuja. Here is my experience with a government job posting, where I was selected from the visually impaired category. I suffer from cone dystrophy, which makes me extremely sensitive to light. I was selected for the ABPM (Auxiliary Branch Postmaster) position in the GDS (Gramin Dak Sevak) post office. The work of an ABPM involves delivering and receiving couriers from other offices, which also requires driving a scooter. Due to my visual impairment, I have not been granted a driving license, making driving risky for me.
